Homeowners wishing to plant a tree in the city right of way at their property should first contact the Street Department. While the city is happy to allow residents to plant trees, there are certain species that are not ideal for planting along city streets. The street superintendent will work with the homeowner to select the proper species and once the trees are on site, the street department will plant the trees for the resident to ensure safety of underground utilities and proper placement in the right of way. Minimum diameter is two inches for trees planted in the right of way.
