[ARCHIVED] Rt. 66 Car Show Raises Money for Cancer Research

The “Get Your Kicks on Route 66” car show, which took place last weekend in downtown Pontiac, collected $880 that will be given to the American Cancer Society – Relay for Life in the memory of Betty Estes and Lenore Weiss. The car show was planned by a car club from Michigan. Approximately 40 cars arrived in Pontiac on Friday evening and more joined the group on Saturday when the cars went on display around the Livingston County Courthouse square. Despite a light, late-afternoon shower, the car enthusiasts who came to Pontiac to be part of the show appeared to have a good time.

Along with the car show, two memorial trees planted in downtown Pontiac were dedicated to Betty and Lenore. Father David Sabel of St. Mary’s Parrish led the blessing of the trees, and a small crowd visited each of the trees in turn.
