The Journey Stories exhibition, currently on display in the Livingston County Courthouse, will remain in Pontiac until April 6, 2013. The Smithsonian’s exhibit is sponsored in Illinois by the Illinois Humanities Council and the City of Pontiac. One of the events planned to supplement the Smithsonian’s display will be a talk on the history of Route 66 to be given by John Weiss, noted author and Route 66 historian. Weiss’s talk, which will be held in Pontiac City Council Chambers on Thursday, March 28 at 7:30 PM, will examine the entire history of the Mother Road, with particular attention paid to local landmarks. The history program is open to the public and admission is free.
