On July 26, 2014 the Mobil Station at 602 Ewing Drive reported an expensive theft. Three 8 foot aluminum fuel tank probes and monitors were stolen. Each had an estimated value at $1500. A service company that repairs the tanks reported similar crimes in Flanagan, El Paso, Bloomington, Morris and East Peoria. We believe the items are being taken for scrap value or resale. It is also believed the theft occurred around 3 am on the 25th. A white service pick up with cab running lights was observed in the area immediately preceding the thefts. A security camera was also ripped from the building shortly after the pick up went by. Pontiac Police continue to investigate with other agencies.

Vehicle Burglaries Reported:
500 block N. Vermillion on the 27th. Change
900 block W. Custer on the 26th Samsung Phone

Stolen Vehicle (recovered)
300 Block of W. North St. Reported on the 24th. Person(s) unknown took a red Dodge Van and crashed it at the old railroad bed near 601 E. Prairie St. into a utility pole tension wire. The thief fled prior to arrival. This case is still under investigation.
