Illinois Freedom Project Exhibit Grand Opening Presentation

Thursday, February 2, 2023

The Pontiac Public Library and Pontiac's Department of Community Enrichment are honored to welcome Tim Townsend, Project Coordinator for the Illinois Freedom Project. Tim's presentation will detail some of the stories of freedom depicted in the exhibit, the educational initiative of the Illinois Freedom Project, and the work involved in creating this amazing traveling exhibit.

Refreshments will be provided and the exhibit will be open for viewing following the presentation.

The Illinois Freedom Project Traveling Exhibit is an initiative geared towards teaching youth and communities about the historical journey from slavery to freedom in Illinois. By providing stories of victory through adversity, the exhibit highlights the lives of everyday people in Illinois who struggled against slavery and prejudice and became community, state, and national leaders. Don't miss this amazing exhibit at the Pontiac Public Library during the month of February!

Presented by Pontiac Public Library and the Department of Community Enrichment in partnership with the Looking for Lincoln National Heritage Area.
