Description
Community Risk Reduction Branch’s objective is to reduce the risk of man-made and natural disaster threats thus protecting the lives, property and economic vitality of the community. This is accomplished by providing a variety of services such as public education, public relations, code enforcement, and emergency disaster preparedness.
Responsibilities
Public Education: Responsible for identifying and prioritizing risks and threats in the community and applying resources to improve public safety. Programs include Car Seat Inspections, Blood Pressure Checks, and Fire Extinguisher Training.
Public Relations: Responsible for collaborating with both internal and external stakeholders of the community and also serve as the the Public Information Officer for the fire department.
Emergency Services and Disaster Agency (ESDA): Responsible for the developing, implementing, managing, and reviewing the emergency operations plan for the community in relation to emergency management and disaster preparedness.
Code Enforcement: Responsible for enforcing the fire codes that are recognized and authorized by the City of Pontiac Ordinances.
