The last Comprehensive Plan for the City of Pontiac was approved by City Council over 20 years ago. Needless to say, much has changed in our community over that time. It is time for a new plan. In order to get more public input, the City Council will be utilizing a new method of planning. At its December 18th meeting, the Council approved a resolution authorizing the implementation of the Community Heart and Soul program - a citizen involvement process developed by the Orton Family Foundation. The Orton Family Foundation shares its resources as well as its expertise to interested communities at no cost.
The Community Heart and Soul process is heavily dependent on volunteers to reach all segments of the community to determine what matters most to its residents and develop plans to improve our community. There are numerous ways to volunteer based upon someone’s interest and skills. Persons interested in volunteering may email the Pontiac Community Heart and Soul Leadership Team or give them a call at 815-419-7015.
