The Engineering Department plans, budgets, designs, and provides construction observation for the construction of streets, bridges, storm sewer networks, sanitary sewer networks, and other City infrastructure in the right-of-way. This department is responsible for the administration and oversight of engineering services and provides technical assistance for the Streets & Alleys Department, Wastewater Treatment Department, and other departments in the city as required by code and policy. In addition, this department coordinates projects with the Illinois Department of Transportation, engineering consultants, and provides review and approval of developer-designed public improvements as well as permit review for public utilities in the right-of-way.
