Police Documents

Most police records are open for public inspection with some exceptions. To obtain a police report please complete the freedom of information act request detailing what record you wish to obtain.

It is important to note that not all information is available such as social security numbers, telephone numbers and other information that maybe used for identity theft. Other exemptions include:

  • Information on cases still under police investigation
  • Juvenile information
  • Information that may reveal the victim of a sexual assault
  • Information that is clearly an unwarranted invasion of privacy
  • Information if released would interfere with actual or reasonably contemplated law enforcement proceeding
  • Information that could endanger the life of a law enforcement officer or other person.

  • There is no fee for the first 50 pages.
  • Requests should be made to the police department
  • Remember to allow time to retrieve and prepare the documents
