Are you having sewer problems!? What should you do!?
- Locate your "building sewer" line clean out. (See below for examples)
- Measure the actual water level that is in your clean out.
- If there is more then a couple inches of water in your clean out there may be a problem in your service line or in the public sewer.
- We recommend that you call 844-5574 or 815-867-0836 during normal working hours and someone will assist you in evaluating if the problem is within the private or the public sewer.
- If it is after 4:00 pm and you believe the problem is within the public sewer call the plant first @ 844-5574 and If there is no answer then call the 24 Hour/7 Day Emergency number and someone will assist you.

BELOW PLEASE FIND A PHOTO OF TREE ROOTS INSIDE A SEWER AND A DRAWING THAT SHOWS A SEWER SYSTEM THAT HAS A PROBLEM WITH TREE ROOTS IN THE SERVICE LINE. PLEASE NOTE THAT IF THE ROOTS WERE BETWEEN THE HOUSE AND THE CLEANOUT THE CLEANOUT WOULD BE EMPTY. THIS TYPE OF ROOT PROBLEM CAN NORMALLY BE CORRECTED BY A SEWER AUGER CUTTING OUT THE ROOTS. IF THE TREE IS LARGE AND THE PROBLEM OCCURES MORE THAN ONCE EVERY COUPLE YEARS YOU MAY CHOOSE TO REPLACE THE SEWER WITH PLASTIC PIPE THAT HAS JOINTS THAT WILL KEEP THE ROOTS FROM GETTING INSIDE THE PIPE AND CLOGGING UP THE SEWER.
