Parks & Recreation Director to Retire - City Seeks New Director

Jerry Hayner, who has served for many years as the Director of Pontiac's Parks and Recreation Department, has recently announced his plan to retire at the end of May of this year.  At the March 6th City Council meeting, Hayner's service and contributions to the quality of life in Pontiac were recognized.  Hayner responded by saying that he was looking forward to a new chapter in his life, spending more time with family and other pursuits.  

The City of Pontiac has begun accepting applications for the position of Director of the Parks and Recreations Department.  To learn more about the Pontiac Parks and Recreation Department, visit their webpages.

Job Requirements:

B.S. in Parks and Recreation, Sports Management, Physical Education,or related field, including course work in organization and administration. Ability to gain Certification as a Park and Recreation Professional (CPRP). Knowledge of the principles and practices of modern parks and recreation programs. Good organizational, communication, and computer skills. CPR, First Aid, skills required, ARC Lifeguard Certification preferred. Knowledge in fitness assessment and exercise equipment use preferred. Valid Illinois State Drivers License, or ability to obtain. Must reside within the Pontiac City Limits.
